About the Role

As Job Team Mentor - Commit to attending at least one (1) meeting of a team, identify why you would be of value to the team, get to know the members and their job search goals and be open to email questions between meetings.


As One-On-One Coach - Commit to being available once a week to a job seeker who may not be able to attend a regular job search accountability team due to personal issues or series is on hiatus. Help guide them to resources, encourage goal setting and motivate them in reaching their job search goals and helping that individual reach those goals. In either role, volunteers add additional value by reviewing resumes or LinkedIn profiles, serving as a practice/mock interview partner on short notice, or presenting a job-related topic of their expertise during the series.

Qualifications

  • Background preferred in human resource management, education, psychology, business or related fields.

  • Previous higher education, business, recruiting, or career counseling/coaching experience is preferred.  

  • Sound knowledge of different jobs and career paths is helpful.

  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to explain ideas in understandable terms to job seekers in different stages of their job search. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop, maintain, and facilitate collaborative relationships with diverse people in diverse fields.

  • Exceptional listening skills and ability to give honest, constructive, positive feedback.  Providing tough love is needed for job seekers to grow and succeed in their job search.

  • Comfortable conducting meetings virtually one-on-one.

  • Good organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Previous experience using Zoom, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams or other video conferencing platforms are helpful.

  • Ability to learn and use CNM’s communication platform. Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) are extremely helpful.
