JV's record of excellence in building, leading, refining, and sustaining critical elements and organizations includes commanding a 96 aircraft combat flying operation during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, and as the Commander and Demonstration Leader of the USAF Thunderbirds. JV is currently a Senior Research Fellow for Defense Policy at the Heritage Foundation.
