Mark Goldstein
Co Leader - LinkedIn Team
As a long-time CNM volunteer, Mark Goldstein is known as a “LinkedIn Guru;” however, in the professional world, Mark is known as a cybersecurity expert. He has over 20 years in the cybersecurity field protecting 30 million consumers around the world for America Online as the head of customer-facing security, as deputy chief information security officer for a global cybersecurity company, and as a security consultant for Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. government. In fact, Mark is a former member of the White House Cybersecurity Task Force. Additionally, he owns the patent on the process for using website cookies to maintain user preference settings.
Mark has many accomplishments, but he is most proud of founding several industry groups – the Cyber Diversity Council, the Better Cybersecurity Coalition, and a group that fights malicious online ads. In addition, he serves on one of the nation's largest technology councils – the Northern Virginia Technology Council. Mark has won several awards including the CyberSAFE Leader Award for his innovation in cybersecurity and the Fierce Female Award from the Women-in-Tech (WIT) organization (really!).
Outside of his career, Mark is committed to making a positive impact serving as a dedicated volunteer and mentor for several organizations. For the past 13 years, he has taught a weekly class on social media focused on using LinkedIn in a job search and personal branding - plus mentoring CNM members. He also serves as a mentor for Women in Technology and as a “Mason Mentor” at George Mason University providing job search and career advice.
